Cat Hope’s Speechless is a 70-minute opera for 4 soloists, community choir and bass orchestra. It is a wordless, animated notation opera intended as a personal response to the 2014 Human Rights Commission report ‘The Forgotten Children: National Inquiry into Children in Immigration Detention’.
The opera, directed by the composer, was co-commissioned and premiered at the Perth Festival in 2019 over 6 sold out nights to critical acclaim, including a nomination in the Helpmann Awards.
